08 Sep Best WordPress Themes for Small and Medium Businesses
[ad_1]
Our websites are everything, and the look and layout of our website is an essential factor in how we brand ourselves as small and medium businesses.
For WordPress users (which is a large number of us), this is defined by the theme chosen for our site. It’s no surprise that a question I always see popping up in blogging groups is one asking about the best themes for small and medium businesses.
In general, pro themes are a good way to go for businesses. While you do have to pay for them, they often have better support and are updated more often. Even so, there’s still an abundance of pro themes to choose from.
To help you pick up the best one for your business needs, we selected six themes that are perfect for (most) small and medium businesses.
When you’re choosing your WordPress theme, there are a few things all good themes should be, including:
- Easy to navigate
- Clean and uncluttered
- Mobile responsive (this is huge)
- Have good support (don’t underestimate this- having a regularly updated theme and one with great support can keep your site operating at its best long term)
- Compatibility with your site’s objectives (if you want to sell, make sure it will work well with e-commerce sales)
- Customizable and easy-to-edit
- Supports necessary/popular plugins
- Bonus: multilingual translations (especially for international companies, like AdEspresso)
That’s a lot to consider, and finding the theme that fits the look you want and has all of these qualifications can take up a lot of time and energy. To make the process just a bit simpler, I’ve written down six of my favorite, go-to WordPress themes for small and medium businesses. Every theme on this list meets all of the criteria listed above.
1. Total
Total is a beautiful, clean, and modern WordPress theme that is one of the first I recommend for small and medium businesses. It was created by WP Explorer, and has free updates and incredible support. This theme is extremely customizable and incredibly easy to adapt to your needs.
When I say customizable, I mean it; there are more than 50 different modules that you can use to build pages or posts, designing the exact layout of your dreams. You can also make use of shortcodes to continue to place the content you want where you need it.
One of my favorite features: this is a theme that comes translation-ready, so businesses that are offering content or services that are relevant on an international scale could greatly benefit from it.
Total is $59, and includes 6 months of support from WP explorer (you can purchase extended support). Check out the demo and more information here.
2. Divi
Created by Elegant Themes, Divi is one of the most popular WordPress themes in the world. It’s a great fit for SMBs. It’s risen to fame with 332,967 users partially thanks to its amazing drag-and-drop page builder. This builder allows you to truly customize the structure of your pages via an easy-to-use interface. For those of us who aren’t so technologically savvy, this is incredible.
This layout has the popular “features” section, displayed under a main header, which allows you to highlight different aspects of your business or product. Users can click on the various features listed to get more information about each. This is a great way to quickly tell your users about your brand and your product, and offers incredibly simple navigation.
This theme is eCommerce-ready, with organizational options like being able to include “top rated products,” sale items, and recent reviews in a sidebar.
Divi costs $69, and you can view the demo here.
3. Shopkeeper
If you’re a site with the main focus being on your online storefront, Shopkeeper should be a theme to consider. Their eCommerce features connect seamlessly with the WooCommerce plugin (which I highly recommend). This makes it easier to get more sales and increase conversions.
Shopkeeper also has great features and page builder elements, like the one that lists products with the same attribute, like use case or color. Creating pages dedicated to items on sale or clearance, and highlighting your top-selling products, is a quick and simple process.
This theme does come with a blog option attached (which some eCommerce-centric themes do not). The blog layout is as clean and organized as the rest of the site’s design. It also gives you the option to create a portfolio, which is a great way to showcase products or projects that you’re working on. Startups and marketing agencies could make great use of this feature, too.
Shopkeeper costs $59.00 to purchase, and you can see it in action here.
4. Massive Dynamic
Businesses are using single-page layouts more and more frequently (some of the above themes fit into this category). Massive dynamic is another theme that falls under the single-page format, and it comes with an amazing website builder and stunning AJAX effects and animations.
This site also comes with a powerful and faster-than-ever builder. You can start with blank pages or choose from different templates to customize how you’d like. The coding is all rock solid, and I’ve never had a single client using this theme complain of a glitch.
This theme is perfect for businesses of all types, including eCommerce sites with a lot of products to sell. It also comes equipped with WooCommerce and an awesome plugin called GoPricing. You can choose how you want your products to be displayed, including how many columns you want your products to appear in.
Massive Dynamic costs only $59, which includes all future updates and six months of support from designer PixFlow (with more support being available to purchase. Take a look at the live demo here.
5. Venture (2.0)
Venture is advertised as a professional business theme, and it’s exactly that. Their homepage has multiple areas where you can place widgets of your choice, giving you plenty of customization in what you want to appear there.
One of these widgets includes their subpages widget, which allows you to create distinct sections and “sub-pages” within a page. You can use this to highlight certain employees, products, or features or your brand or service.
This theme is translation-ready, and it also comes with a beautiful built-in portfolio that can be used to highlight your work or latest projects. It also supports WooCommerce.
Venture can be purchased for $69, and more information (including a live demo) can be found here.
6. Avada (4.0)
Avada is one of Theme Forest’s most sold themes in 2016, so you know it’s worth taking a look at. This theme is beautiful and clean. It’s got an amazing option to use a video or GIF as your header image, making your site automatically more dynamic.
This theme comes Retina-ready, so users with retina computer screens won’t be disappointed. It also comes translation-ready, which we’ve already discussed can be a huge perk. They also provide a variety of slider and header options, letting you choose the one that best fits your site and brand.
Avada’s eCommerce options are wonderful; they let the user choose how many products they want to see per page, and the products within the online catalog have gorgeous product previews, with prices and rating information front and center.
Avada is available for purchase at $59, and includes free updates. Get more information and see the live demo here.
Final Thoughts
New themes are being constantly developed, and some businesses will hire an expert developer to create a theme just for them.
If your theme isn’t on this list but works wonderfully for you, great! But if you’re looking for a theme for a new site, or upgrading your current one, these WordPress themes are perfect for (most) small and medium businesses.
They all have fantastic support, are mobile responsive, are customizable, and are beautiful, with clean, easy-to-navigate layouts.
What do you think? Does your site use any of these themes? Did we miss your favorite WordPress theme for SMBs and startups? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
